Beyond the monuments lies a landscape of savage beauty. Your convoy of private 4×4 vehicles departs Cairo for a week-long circuit through the Black Desert's volcanic cones, the chalk-white sculptures of the White Desert, the ancient caravan crossroads of Bahariya Oasis, and finally the emerald pools and oracle temple of Siwa — Alexander the Great's destination. Nights under star-canopied skies in luxury tented camps.

Your Itinerary

    Cairo Departure — Bahariya Oasis

    6-hour private drive west into the desert. Arrive Bahariya Oasis, check into ecolodge. Evening walk among golden dunes, dinner under the stars.

  2. 2

    Black Desert & Crystal Mountain

    Full-day 4×4 circuit through the Black Desert's basalt cones, the Valley of the Golden Mummies (exterior), and the iridescent Crystal Mountain.

  3. 3

    White Desert Camp

    Drive into the White Desert National Park. Afternoon exploring chalk chalk formations. Night under the stars in a private tented camp — campfire, traditional Bedouin dinner.

  4. 4

    White Desert to Farafra

    Morning photography hour as chalk forms catch sunrise. Drive to Farafra Oasis, visit the local museum, afternoon at the hot springs.

  5. 5

    Siwa Bound — Great Sand Sea

    Drive north-west skirting the Great Sand Sea. Stop for sandboarding on the dunes. Arrive Siwa, check into eco-lodge amid olive groves and springs.

  6. 6

    Siwa Oasis — Oracle Temple & Salt Lakes

    Morning at the Oracle Temple of Amun where Alexander the Great sought divine confirmation of his kingship. Afternoon swimming in the salt lake Birket Siwa. Farewell dinner in the oasis.

  7. 7

    Return to Cairo

    Private vehicle return to Cairo (6 hours). Drop-off at hotel or airport.
